SideBySide-net 2011: Dance, Film und Web 2.0

Even in its seventh year, SideBySide received strong feedback from artists, audience and media. As in the years before, many many international dancers and choreographers applied, six extraordinary artists were nominated, and thousands of viewers from all over the world watched and gave their votes. The audience prices of the 7th international online-dancefestival SideBySide-net go to Julien Kho Budorovits & Gia Bao Tu (1st prize), Annika Huckfeldt (2nd prize) and Massimo Gerardi (3rd prize).

The festival’s opening event at „Theater der Träume“ in Düsseldorf was a lot of work and a great success, as all six nominees came personally from Germany, Israel and Taiwan to present themselves via live-performances and dance-videos. The film documentation of this evening was later screened at theatres in Aachen, Cologne, Hamburg, Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, while the audience could watch & vote online too.

SideBySide-net can be regarded as an intercultural and interdisciplinary platform that brings together talented artists from different areas - and that helps to promote dance and its artists successfully. However, the festival's enduring success is not at last due to the continuous and constructive cooperation with partners and sponsors. SideBySide-net 2011 was supported by the state-chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia.
