"In Ytong classical flamenco dance becomes an act of destruction and a sculptural process likewise. The graceful female dancer does not form the sculpture in a common act of creation. It is rather generated by a powerful visual and acoustic act of destruction."

Maren Strack works as sculptor, choreographer, dancer and musiscian. She studied at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in München and also was taught Flamenco by Gonzales Reyes and became a member of his company. Early she began to focus her work on the relation between sculpture and dance and developed kinetic installations and performances. In 1995 she received a scholarship for theatre/dance by the city council of Bremen to realize her first feature-length performance. Since then she mainly created soli and installations which have been shown internationally and rewarded by several prizes, for example the special prize for the best German dance solo or the author's prize of Junges Theater Bremen.
