"The piece tells the story of a saleswoman of sells observation cameras and microphones to people who want to spy their partners in life or business. However, by doing so she develops a kind of paranoia to bet he victim of such actions herself. As a consequence, spectators of this piece can hear the sound of a movie that has never been filmed, while on stage one can hear the whispering of the heart, black shadows and an inner demon, which cameras normally can’t catch. Thus one might ask: Can we separate the heard from the seen?"

Zur Person

Nationality Israeli
Year of birth 1980

Anat Katz graduated from the Gaaton school for professional dancers and is a choreographer based in Israel. Her work involves theatre and dance, which investigates the thin line between text, movement, rhythm and comedy, all based on observing people and exaggerating their daily gestures. To show this in performance, she creates characters using rhythmical text as well as physicality in order to get a sense of the ridiculous side of life. All of her pieces have been performed across Israel and recently in Hannover, Germany. Her latest piece, the duet "Number 8", challenges the audience who need to listen to a movie soundtrack, and watch a dance on stage which is connected to the soundtrack, but in a different way.
